1.) I’ve never been to a cycling class... is CycleCast for me?

Yes! Indoor cycling is a fun and accessible way to get fit. Check out the Ride Guide to learn the basics and get going. There are only a few basic moves to learn and setting up the bike is easy.

2.) Can I try CycleCast before I subscribe?

Yes, absolutely! Download the app in the app store and you’ll receive a free workout right away. Then, after your first workout, subscribe to try your first 30 days free, risk-free.

3.) What kind bike or exercise equipment do I need?

An indoor cycling bike with a weighted flywheel is ideal for riding with CycleCast. They look and feel a bit like an outdoor bike, but obviously they don’t go anywhere. You can either buy one for home, or you can usually find one (or often several) at your local gym.

You can also use an outdoor bike on a stationary trainer or rollers. However, please ensure that your setup supports a full range of motion on the bike and that you are very comfortable standing and sprinting on your setup before attempting to follow along with a CycleCast class!

Finally, you could also use any other type of indoor bike trainer or resistance-adjustable exercise equipment like a recumbent bike or elliptical. You won’t necessarily get the full CycleCast experience as you can’t do all of the movements, but you’ll still get great tunes and an instructor to guide you through intervals.

4.) Do I need my own indoor cycling bike?

No. Owning your own indoor cycling bike is a great way to make getting a cycling workout really convenient. However, CycleCast is on your phone and always with you, so you can take it to your local gym where you’ll usually be able to find available indoor cycling bikes. Many gyms offer cycling classes on a limited schedule, which means that their studio bikes are actually available for your personal use most of the time. Some gyms also have bikes out on the floor with other cardio equipment. Ask around at your local gym if you need help finding an indoor cycling bike.

Still can’t find one? While a purpose-built indoor cycling bike is ideal for CycleCast, there may be other types that work well for you. See the FAQ titled What kind bike or exercise equipment do I need?

5.) Do I need a bike computer or power meter?

No. CycleCast guides riders with perceived level of exertion in addition to RPM and percentage of max heart rate. While it is definitely helpful to have a bike computer, a heart rate monitor, or both, those without them will still get a great workout!

6.) Do I need a heart rate monitor?

CycleCast is currently only available on iPhone 5, 5c, 5s, 6, 6 Plus, and iPod touch with iOS 8 and up. We do have plans for an Android version in the future, but don’t have further information at this time as to when it will be available.

10.) I am currently injured or had an injury recently. Should I ride with CycleCast?

Please consult a doctor to determine whether you’re fit to exercise and use an indoor bike. Be safe!

11.) What's the difference between a Beats Ride and a Classic Ride?

In a Beats Ride, the instructor will guide you to ride on the beat. In a Classic Ride the instructor will guide you through time-based intervals.

1.) Can I rewind, fast forward, or skip tracks during a class?

Our music licensing doesn’t allow us to implement these features effectively. That said, CycleCast’s playlists are expertly crafted to give you an enjoyable, effective, and safe workout. Don’t like a song? Want to hear more of a certain artist or genre? Let your instructor know by commenting on their profile page.

2.) Can I replay a previous class?

Our music licensing prevents us from allowing you to choose exactly which class you’ll hear. However, we’ll always play an instructor’s most recent class first. After that, you’ll hear a selection of past classes with those you haven’t heard before presented first.

3.) Can I download the classes?

No. At this time, CycleCast only provides streaming content that requires an active internet connection on your device and does not have any downloadable content.

4.) Can I play classes when I’m offline with no internet connection or when my phone is in airplane mode?

No. At this time, CycleCast only provides streaming content that requires an active internet connection on your device.

5.) Is CycleCast adding more instructors?

CycleCast does plan on adding new instructors in the future, so stay tuned! If you are an experienced cycling instructor looking to bring your class beyond the studio with CycleCast, please send a demo recording to instructors@cyclecast.com.

6.) How often is new content published?

Each instructor publishes new content weekly. The most recent classes will always play first, so tune in each week to catch your favorite instructor’s new class.

7.) Can I use my own music in the app?

No, CycleCast brings the music so you don’t have to. CycleCast’s instructors create every playlist from scratch to give you the best workout possible. To make music requests, please visit your instructor’s profile page and leave a comment. They’d love to hear from you!

8.) How do I report a problem or get technical support?

9.) How do I leave feedback or contact the CycleCast team?

10.) I'm having connection issues. What should I do?

For the best possible experience, we recommend connecting to Wi-Fi if available. This will ensure you're getting the best possible connection when streaming CycleCast rides. If there is no Wi-Fi available, make sure you have a good connection to a wireless data network. If the issue persists, please contact us here.

1.) Why should I connect CycleCast to Apple Health?

The Health app from Apple provides a way to store and move workout data from CycleCast and gives CycleCast a way to easily pull your latest stats in order to calculate more accurate workout results.

If you have personal fitness info (height, weight, age, gender) stored in Health, you can allow CycleCast to pull in that info in order to better calculate the number of calories you burn and the miles you bike. If you have a heart rate monitor that pushes data to Health, your heart rate data can also be used by CycleCast to provide more accurate calorie results.

If you allow CycleCast to push workout data into Health (workouts, active calories, and miles biked), you can then either track that data in Health, or track it through other apps connected with Health, like MyFitnessPal™.

Join the quantified self movement! Connect to CycleCast to Health.

2.) How do I connect CycleCast to Apple Health?

After subscribing, you can connect during the user profile creation process. Select Tap to Pull Health Stats and follow the instructions to pull any personal stats you have stored in Health like height or weight as well as allow CycleCast to push workout data to Health.

If you missed it during profile creation, you can also connect to Health at any time by selecting Connect to Apple Health in the Account Settings menu. Follow the instructions and then be sure to return to your User Profile after connecting to pull your latest stats from Health.

3.) How do I manage my connection to Apple Health?

Once CycleCast and Health are connected, open the Health app and select Sources > CycleCast. Use the toggle switches to manage the data that CycleCast reads from and writes to the Health app.

4.) I connected CycleCast to Apple Health, but my health stats aren’t updating in my CycleCast User Profile… what’s up?

CycleCast can pull height, weight, gender, and birthdate data you’ve entered in Health to provide more detailed calorie estimates. First, be sure you’ve followed the instructions in How do I connect CycleCast to Apple Health? and that you’ve checked your settings by following How do I manage my connection to Apple Health? Then, go to the User Profile in Account Settings and select Tap to Pull Health Stats. If you have any stats entered in Apple’s Health app they will be pulled into the User Profile after selecting this button.

5.) Why I don’t see heart rate data in my workout results? I’m using a heart rate monitor and I already connected CycleCast to Apple Health.

CycleCast pulls heart rate data out of Apple Health. Depending on the model of your heart rate monitoring device, you may have to first complete your ‘workout’ in the monitor’s app (i.e. Wahoo Fitness, Polar Beat, etc.) and share it with Health prior to completing your CycleCast class. We’ve found that this can be done during the cooldown at the end of every CycleCast class.
